Just a question...You are tying your rafters to the masonry heater, right? Will there be any chance of heat from the masonry stove causing any problems with the rafters? Just asking.

Well, kind of, they are setting on top of the ledge we created on the stove.

Our masonry stove design is the same as Rob Roy's. He gives the maximum temperature that the ledge underneath the rafters reaches on his masonry stove in one of his books, but I can't remember what it was. I do remember him saying that the temperature is equal to that of warm bath water. So, there shouldn't be any problems.
I'm 40 years old. I love to learn about anything and everything. I'm particularily interested in why the world is so messed up and what we can do about it.
